"High Places"
"High
Places" is Danny's first full original song project in 10 years. With the
release of 2 volumes of hymn arrangements and his "best of"
project ("Return To The Canyon: Best Of The Early Projects" cr. 2005) this new
CD is a welcome return to what Danny does best: singing and
songwriting. Eight of the eleven songs are his compositions. The others were
songs that have been specifically chosen from live
performances he has done over the past several years.
"High Places" opens with the rhythmic "We Remember", a song by Danny's sister
Judy Viccellio, which Danny pulled off of an old cassette demo of hers. Danny
was introduced to "Holy Now" by a friend at church and performed it as a solo in
worship. And the final song on the project was recorded in 1971 by the group
Love Song. "Two Hands" has been a staple to Christians who remember the early
roots of contemporary Christian music. Throughout the CD Danny uses elements of
folk, rock, and jazz like never before. "High Places" is taking listeners to new
heights, musically and spiritually.
Return
to the Canyon" can be
considered a "Best of...", containing a powerful collection of new songs and remakes of some of
Danny's older classics from his popular early projects, "Songs from the Canyon"
(1986) and "Season's End" (1988).
Whether you are a new fan of Danny's music or have been enjoying his music for
many years, "Return to the Canyon" is sure to quickly become one of your
favorites!
Danny Byram's sixth release, A Legacy of Hymns Volume 2, is now available
for purchase on compact disc. This new collection of traditional hymns and
Gospel songs follows his first volume from 1994, Then & Now: A Legacy Of
Hymns. The 2nd volume is similar to the first in feel and style, but a more
elaborate style of recording was employed to capture a new and fresh essence in
these hymns. "I wanted to stay close the first volume, yet move beyond it
carefully without drowning out the basic melodies and the hymn lyrics," says
Danny. A soon-to-be-released songbook, featuring piano accompaniment, vocal
line, lyrics and guitar chords will follow.
Recorded during Danny's first season as Promise Keepers event producer, this project features some of Christian music's greatest artists and studio musicians. Michael Card, Wes King, Michael James, Lisa Cochran (First Call), and Chris Rodriquez (Kenny Loggins) all contribute to the vocal tracks of this recording. Also featured are guitarists Jerry McPherson (Amy Grant), and Mark Baldwin (Brentwood Jazz Quartet), along with bassist Jackie Street (Russ Taff) and keyboardist Phil Madiera. Danny considers this his best contemporary work to date.
For Years, Danny would improvise on a hymn during a worship service. These new arrangements became so in demand, he recorded them. THEN & NOW: A Legacy of Hymns has become one of the most popular of his recordings. With the A Legacy of Hymns Volumne 2 now released, this earlier recording is considered his first volume of the great hymns.

"Now It Starts" features some of Danny's best known material to date. Contemporary in sound and approach, the studio band accompanying Danny on these songs is Nashville's stellar Christian musicians: Guitarists Jerry McPherson (Amy Grant) and Don Potter (Wynonna Judd), keyboardist John Schreiner (Julian Lennon, Stewart Copeland), vocalist Chris Rodriquez (Kenny Loggins) and harmonica player
Terry McMillan. Amidst the full band selections, Danny adds to this project some of his best known contemplative songs: I Must Leave You Now, Establish My Footsteps and Don't Let Me Serve You.
